- UPDATE – 5/20/23
I finally decided to give Ararity another try and went down this morning to collect my winnings. I spoke at some length to the representatives of Ararity and detailed the events of last year. They were apologetic, and asked what they could do to make things right. I made the suggestions:
- HAVE SOMEONE on call Saturday (pickup day). I tried calling 4 times but noone answered. If they had only had the calls forwarded to someone on duty this entire disaster might have been prevented!
- UPDATE the website. Anyone reading the Terms and Conditions on Ararity’s website would never see that their items would be immediately sold if not picked up on that one day!
- COMMUNICATE. I called the Monday morning (9:02) after the pickup day last year and the management representative this morning said he had no idea why that message was not communicated to him. That too would have prevented the debacle.
ALL in all this has gone a good way to rectify things in my opinion. Hopefully my unpleasant experience last year will help keep others from having a similar experience!
FURTHER UPDATE 11/23: ALL IS GOOD. I’m more than satisfied with recent transactions and they have gone OUT of their way on several occasions to be helpful!
Hey have YOU been ripped off by Ararity?? Check this out!
July 2022!
I won some items from them on their Sunday Auction on July 10, paid IMMEDIATELY and called that Saturday to tell them I was on my way to pickup.
no response to my calls! Called serveral times!
I got there too late to pickup! (Thought they were open till 4pm??)
I called the next Monday at 902am apologized for missing them on Saturday and asked to come and collect my items, and I had also won several things from the day before perhaps I could pickup both lots at the same time?
Was told I could not do it would have to wait till Saturday and pick up both lots! I arrived that Saturday and got my items for THIS week’s auction (July 17) but was told my items from LAST week were gone and sold to someone else!!! The representative blamed Rasmus for having sold them, and said I would need to call Rasmus! (They also told me they were not happy with Rasmus and were looking to ‘unwind’ their relationship with them).
I had paid for them immediately and called Monday (2 days after the first pickup) to arrange collection!
Can you say RIPOFF??? What an amazing arrangement? I win items at auction pay for them, and they get sold to someone else! They wont even REFUND MY MONEY!!!!
AMAZING! I checked on THEIR website as well as Rasmus site.
There is NO WARNING THAT IF YOU DONT PICK UP ON SATURDAY YOU LOSE YOUR ITEMS!
From the Ararity Auction site here are their terms:
“Item retrieval and pick up: All items must be retrieved and payment completed within 15 days of auction close, unless previous arrangements have been made. A 25% per week storage fee will be added to the buyers’ invoice after the 15 day mark if no communication has been made. Items will not be released until payment is completed. It is the responsibility of the buyer to arrange all shipping, courier service, or pick up. For shipping via UPS contact Donald Camden (703) 569-8802 and specify Ararity Live Auction. Recommended for shipping by courier service: Craters & Freighters (703) 796-0180, cratersandfreightersnorthernvirginia.com. Check out Greyhound Package Express (shipgreyhound.com). To arrange an in-person pick up appointment contact Ararity at 703-302-0509. ALL in person pick ups are by appointment only. No requests for appointments beyond the 15th day. If you are unable to arrange for item pick up within the specified window, please refrain from placing a bid in the auction. ALL payments must be remitted through Live Auctioneers, no cash will be accepted on site. No other forms of payment outside the Live Auctioneers system, no exceptions.”
But note – I communicated with the Monday (8 days after the auction) – and was there on that Saturday (as I was directed by their representative on that Monday call) – and they told me my items were ‘gone’. This was on day 14. They tried blaming Rasmus! Now when I called Rasmus THEY refunded the money with apologies. But several of my auction wins were for MY customers and this made ME look like an idiot! What customer service!
DANGER WILL ROBINSON! DANGER!
IF YOU DEAL WITH THESE FOLKS!!!
BE WARNED
